Cuba Honeymoon Destinations
Cuba, the biggest island of the Caribbean, is best known for its beaches, cigars and mojitos. The white, luscious beaches and luxurious resorts are a perfect accompaniment for a great honeymoon, but there are enough activities to keep active couples happy.
Cuba honeymoon destinations
Arguably the most famous of all places, and the best Cuba honeymoon destination, are the islands north of the mainland called “Jardines del Rey” (translated as the “Gardens of the King”). These islands were celebrated in Ernst Hemingway’s posthumously published book called “Islands in the Stream”.
These islands, boasting numerous four and five star hotels, are a haven for water sports and activities. Water activities such as diving, snorkeling, kayaking, and fishing can be done in crystal clear turquoise water. Boats, catamarans and kayaks can be rented from hotels and private companies.
Other activities include exploring “Cayo Coco”, one of the islands of “Jardines del Rey”, by moped; and having a drink and listening to Cuban music at “Cueva del Jabali” (translated as the “Cave of the wild boar”), an authentic dark cave.
Places of interesting include the sand dunes of “Pilar beach”; “La Redonda” lagoon; the Dutch styled village of “Cayo Coco”; and “El Baga” natural park (formerly the Cayo Coco airport).
The islands can be reached by several methods: by air via the Cayo Coco Airport; by car via the causeway which links it to the Cuba mainland; and by boat via the marina on “Cayo Guillermo”. Due to embargoes much of Cuba is like stepping into a time capsule from the 1950s! This makes it even more of an intriguing destination for honeymooners.
