Perhaps it’s because New Zealand is seen as so far away from countries like the UK and US. Perhaps it’s because of our plethora of geographic and geologic attractions, all contained within 2 relatively small islands. Perhaps it’s because of the “Lord of the Rings” movies. Or, perhaps it’s because of the multitude of adventure and adrenalin-inducing activities for which New Zealand has become famous. Whatever the reason, New Zealand seems to be a top destination for couples on their honeymoon.
Your New Zealand Honeymoon
In the North Island, Bay of Islands to the North of Auckland, along with the Central North Island which encompasses Rotorua, Waitomo and Taupo, would be preferred destinations.
Bay of Islands offers snorkeling and scuba diving, sailing, swimming with dolphins, and quaint villages steeped in New Zealand history.
Each of the key destinations in the Central North Island offers its own unique flavour. Rotorua is best known for its geysers and mud pools, as well as Maori culture. The city also offers a wide variety of adventure and leisure activities, from the Luge and the Zorb (the silicon ball that rolls down a hill with you inside) to the Agrodome and Rainbow Springs.

October is glorious, as it is springtime, the trees are cloaked in new leaves and flowers, the days are warm (not hot) and there are relatively few tourists about. December through March are the warmest months, ideal for enjoying the beaches and lakes and getting a tan. And April and May are magnificent, as the autumn (fall) colours abound – rich reds, browns and yellows against a backdrop of beaches, lakes and mountains.
