A cruise honeymoon or a resort honeymoon?
A cruise honeymoon or a resort honeymoon?
It can be a tough choice. Here is how to choose.
My fiance and I want to go somewhere warm and tropical for our honeymoon. Initially, I thought about going on a cruise. I have been on one before and loved that it was all inclusive and that there were plenty of excursions and new things to do. However, I also feel we might not get the whole “relaxing on the beach” honeymoon vibe if we are on a ship the whole time. I’m also worried that if we plan to go stay at a resort for a week we won’t get to do as many activities as a cruise package offers.
So, resort versus cruise?
Resort honeymoon
- We decided on the resort because it actually included a lot more then just the cruise. Some resorts include certain tours and things. They include all sorts of activities if you want to stay on the resort as well and the food is amazing and most resorts have lots of options for food. They include usually water sports and water activities like catamaran’s and things like that too.
- If you want to go to a resort, check into their packages first. I have heard that St. Lucia and Costa Rica offer a wide variety of activites compared to other locales.
- You could easily go to a beach for half of the ports or easily do an excursion from the resort for half of your resort stay. etiher way you get the best of both worlds. both ways are what you make of them.
- Or you could do both-do a few nights in Puerto Rico or Barbados (where ships leave from and you still have great beaches) and then get on a cruise from there.
- I think that the reason we chose the resort is because we would much rather have 5-6 days at one spot with tons of stuff to do in that area instead of just stopping at a spot for 8ish hours and trying to get everything you want to get done in that short amount of time. The pro to the resort honeymoon is that we can create our own schedules and not have to make sure or worry that we have to be back at the ship for a certain time. All of the parks and excursions we did included food, some included all you can drink as well. We had a great time and I tell everyone to go down there!
Cruise honeymoon
- With a cruise you are stuck on a boat for days just to get to another place and have just a short amount of time again. If you want to a go on a cruise look at how long the ship is in each port. On a Carnival cruise that went to St. Thomas, Barbados, St. Kitts, St Lucia, and St Maartin for example, you will be in most ports from 8am-5 pm, so plenty of time to relax on the beach.
- Cruises can be very tiring as well though. We found that when we went on cruises we were usually up early each day so we could spend the majority of the day on the island. That said, most cruises are at ports for a good chunk of the day so you can make your honeymoon relaxing by going to beaches at some islands and then maybe doing excursions on others so you are not on the go every day.
- We thought about a cruise for our honeymoon because we love that everything is all inclusive, but we want to go with a more relaxing and secluded honeymoon so we went with a resort.
That should give you a better idea of the cruise or resort honeymoon options.

Go on a camping honeymoon
Camping honeymoon
Anyone go camping on their honeymoon? I think this would be great fun, and what a better way to get some time away alone? I know a few people who camped for their honeymoons. For most it was a way to save money. A good tip - I think if you do decide to go camping you should make sure to have a back-up plan in case of bad weather – this is important. But for a couple who really loves the outdoors camping together can be a really fun way to vacation! If I were a camper in the United States I would go to the Rockie mountains most likely.
Spend your honeymoon camping!
However, I think that camping is great and all, but I personally am the kind of person that really wants that romance by the beach and such. However, I do love the outdoors and I do think that I would have to take my new bride camping once simply because it is amazing. What’s better than laying out under the stars with the one you love? I don’t think anything. Honeymoons are more for being with your loved one and being relaxed. Some people dont think camping is really the way to go. I guess if both of you are really into it then go do that, but its kind of not the typical honeymoon.
Deciding on the perfect honeymoon destination can be difficult. It’s an important holiday that should not only reward couples with romance and relaxation but also a lifetime of wonderful memories.
Honeymoons are very individual things. Some couples want a child-free, resort vacation, others may want to include soft adventure or nightlife in their holiday… some may want total privacy while others may want to meet new people. So in summary, camping on your honeymoon doesn’t seem so bad. As long as you make it a special trip, both of you can definitely remember it and have a story to tell to the grand children someday. There are a lot of things and places that couples can do and visit on their honeymoon and what I think that is important here is that they do it together, they do it as a couple. Going on a camping honeymoon definitely depends on your character!

Honeymoon preparation checklist
Honeymoon preparation checklist
So you are off on your honeymoon. Its an exciting time, but have you remembered everything when you are planning the whole thing? Well, if you are not sure have a look at this handy list for a quick rundown on all the things that you need for your honeymoon.
The honeymoon checklist
1. Discuss the type of honeymoon you want and set a budget. A cruise or resort vacation? Europe or Hawaii? There are .so many choices.
2. Begin the process of obtaining passports if you don’t have them. Remember that this could take many weeks, if not months.
3. Find out if a Visa is required and then apply for it as soon as you have your passport. Also check on inoculation requirements for the country you’ll be visiting. Make a note of getting these.
4. Make your reservation and then confirm all details. Make sure names are spelled correctly. When purchasing air reservations confirm seat assignments. Purchase trip insurance.
5. Set up a honeymoon registry list of gifts you would like to receive, including lodging, airfare, romantic dinners and activities.
6. If you’ll need foreign currency, exchange enough money ahead of time to get from the airport to your hotel.
7. Reconfirm all reservations a week prior to departure. (Reconfirm flights again the day before travel.)
8. Leave a copy of your travel itinerary and phone numbers with someone at home in case of an emergency.
9. Make sure you do not pack your travel documents and passports in your luggage.
10. Remember, you should purchase airline tickets in your maiden name! This is because otherwise you’ll have difficulty at the airport since you won’t have any proof you have a different identity (no certified marriage cert, changed driver’s license for example because it’s too soon after the wedding).
So, there you have it, a useful honeymoon preparation checklist. Now all thats left is enjoying your honeymoon!

Cuba Honeymoon Destinations
Cuba Honeymoon Destinations
Cuba, the biggest island of the Caribbean, is best known for its beaches, cigars and mojitos. The white, luscious beaches and luxurious resorts are a perfect accompaniment for a great honeymoon, but there are enough activities to keep active couples happy.
Cuba honeymoon destinations
Arguably the most famous of all places, and the best Cuba honeymoon destination, are the islands north of the mainland called “Jardines del Rey” (translated as the “Gardens of the King”). These islands were celebrated in Ernst Hemingway’s posthumously published book called “Islands in the Stream”.
These islands, boasting numerous four and five star hotels, are a haven for water sports and activities. Water activities such as diving, snorkeling, kayaking, and fishing can be done in crystal clear turquoise water. Boats, catamarans and kayaks can be rented from hotels and private companies.
Other activities include exploring “Cayo Coco”, one of the islands of “Jardines del Rey”, by moped; and having a drink and listening to Cuban music at “Cueva del Jabali” (translated as the “Cave of the wild boar”), an authentic dark cave.
Places of interesting include the sand dunes of “Pilar beach”; “La Redonda” lagoon; the Dutch styled village of “Cayo Coco”; and “El Baga” natural park (formerly the Cayo Coco airport).
The islands can be reached by several methods: by air via the Cayo Coco Airport; by car via the causeway which links it to the Cuba mainland; and by boat via the marina on “Cayo Guillermo”. Due to embargoes much of Cuba is like stepping into a time capsule from the 1950s! This makes it even more of an intriguing destination for honeymooners.

Honeymoon Tips for an amazing honeymoon
Honeymoon tips
Here we look at honeymoon tips, some weird, some wonderful but all very useful. The honeymoon is, in many ways, crucial to the success of the initial phase of your marriage.
Honeymoonguy’s honeymoon tips!
A couple of tips to help anyone planning a honeymoon right now.
Splurge as much as you can on your accommodations. This makes all the difference in the world. Many couples try to save money, for example getting an ocean view cabin instead of a mini-suite or suite and then wish they had paid the difference for the suite so they could’ve had a balcony.
Also try to get upgraded to first or business class. Maybe someone would donate miles for you to use for the upgrade? Just be creative.
Compare prices. Once you decide on where you want to go start shopping around for the best price. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Sometimes you may be getting free upgrades or other amentities that aren’t being included in the other quotes your getting. Ask for specific details. Example would be what room category of cabin type are they quoting.
Tight budget? If you want luxury but your budget doesn’t allow it consider staying 4 or 5 nights instead of 7 to get what you really want.
Here are more tips while on your honeymoon!
1.Special time. Decide and agree between each other that this is a special time, and that work worries, financial bothers and other subjects that relate to your everyday life are not spoken about. Get in touch with the inner child in you, play with objects, spend as much time in nature as you can, this in particular can help you see and connect with the inner child of your partner, a part of their personality that is too often hidden deeply away.
2. Let your love shine! Use every opportunity to include others in your happy, loved up world. Be generous and kind and avoid petty confrontations with locals or hotel staff. Tell as many of the hotel staff as you come across that you are on your honeymoon, often this one simple gesture means that people will go out of their way to help you have a fantastic honeymoon.
3. Dream letter. Now is an important time to express what you are expecting from your partner and in the marriage in the long term. Write a letter, addressed to your partner detailling all of you dreams, hopes, aspirations and even fears that you have for your future. Your partner in turn does this for you. This is a great communication tip and helps to make sure that you are both on the same page when it comes to what you want. Also, people express themselves differently when they are writing as they have more time to think and it is a more deliberate act. You could modify this to include other forms of expression like a poem or even a song for example if you play the guitar or piano.
4. Agree on storing the memories. Have fun but remember to always keep up to date with photos of special moments and bring a cam corder along with you and get other people, like the hotel staff to film you two together instead of having the annoying problem of having to pass the camera backwards and forwards to each other, meaning that only one of you is in the frame at any time.
5. Read up on how different cultures celebrate their honeymoons. This is one of the more unusual honeymoon tips. Have a search on the Internet and find out how other cultures around the world celebrate their honeymoons. Maybe you can find inspiration as to the activities you would like to do or even where you would like to go. Have a look here for more information http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honeymoon
6. Try a completely different honeymoon. Get really outside the box and try something like a eco friendly honeymoon? Or if you are even more daring, shed your clothes and have a nudist honeymoon and get a luxurious, all over tan.
7. Your own love language. Find endearing terms to call each other, make up secret words for things, in short, create your own shared, secret language! This will further help to forge a bond between you. If you are short on ideas you can have a look here for suggestions http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Language_game.
If you think outside the box this can be great fun!
8. Don’t let the honeymoon disappear. When you honeymoon is over and you are back home, try to continue with the activities that you did while you were on holiday. So idf you swam everyday, find a local pool and go swimming. Psychologically proven, this technique gives you the feeling that you are still in the honeymoon mode and makes it seem even longer than it was.
9. Luxuriate. Use the time on your honeymoon to enjoy the finest food, wine and entertainment, things that you would not purchase in day to day life. Laugh long, kiss deeply, make love tenderly.
10. Be in shape. Nothing makes you feel better than being in a good state of fitness. Feeling good about yourself will make your honeymoon even better.
There you go those are some of the best honeymoon tips we could find, we hope that they set you well on your way to complete honeymoon bliss! Enjoy!
